Fertility

The desire to bear children is a common thread throughout humanity. Many couples, however, experience difficulty in achieving a much desired pregnancy.

Infertility is defined as the absence of conception despite regular, unprotected sexual relations for a period of one year. It is estimated that 10 to 15% of couples are affected by infertility.

Contributing factors are numerous and complex. Causes of infertility may be attributed to one or the other partner or to both partners at the same time:

  • 45 % female infertility
  • 35 % male infertility
  • 20 % combined infertility

It is often possible to detect and to remedy the infertility problem.
