If you forgot to take your contraceptive pill

 Forgetting to take one pill for less then 24 hours

  Take one pill as soon as possible and finish the dispenser as usual

 Forgetting one pill for more than 24 hours or forgetting 2 pills in a row

First week 

  • Take 1 pill as soon as possible and throw away the tablets you forgot. Finish the dispenser as usual.
  • Use a condom for 7 days

If you had sexual relations without condom in the last 5 days take (the emergency pill) as soon as possible.

2nd and 3rd week

  • Take 1 pill as soon as possible and throw away the pill you forgot
  • Continue to take the pills as usual until the end of 3rd week and start with a new dispenser without (no hormone) break

Forgetting 3 tablets or more in a row

First week

  • Take 1 pill as soon as possible and throw away the tablets you forgot. Finish the dispenser as usual.
  •  Use a condom for 7 days

If you had sexual relations without condom in the last 5 days take ( the emergency pill) as soon as possible

2nd and 3rd week

  • Take 1 pill as soon as possible and throw away the pills you forgot. Continue to take the pills as usual the end of the 3rd week and start with a new dispenser without  » no hormone break »

If you had sexual relations without condom in the last 5 days take /the emergency contraceptive pills » as soon as possible

NOTE: « The emergency contraception pills » is what was used to be call  » the morning after pill » and it is good up to 5 days after the sexual relation. It is less effective the more you wait. In Québec you cant get it by seeing a nurse, a doctor or a pharmacist
